"The neglected nerd as hero..."

" 'A View to a Nerd' is a satisfying mystery that finally gives that neglected non-heroic person, the nerd, a chance to shine as a hero. A multi-layered tale of secrets, lies, danger, sex (steamy), and mystical powers, this novel is hard to put down. It offers all one might want from a story of this genre, with vivid descriptions, exotic locales, and an imaginative plot. Chris Redding's imagination is once again stoked to the max."

“Draws you in from the first line"

"Waking up next to a dead guy can ruin your whole day. Definitely! I love books that draw you right in and "A View to A Nerd" does that from the first line. The beginning was sharp and powerful and provided clarity. While the book was quite good, I wish there was more sharpness in the book. The storyline was clever. Having said that there were multiple story lines, and at times, I found myself a little confused by them all.

In our story, the main character, Miriam, finds herself waking up next to a dead guy. She's a heavy sleeper, so the murder occurred without her knowledge. She meets her "nerd" , Gus, and the mystery and the characters unravel from there. Who killed the dead guy and why? Were they really after Miriam? Someone else? More importantly, why is Miriam so important to so many people? Will Miriam and Gus get together? Lots of mysteries.

Overall, an enjoyable affordable read that will keep you guessing."

“the story was good. I love reading cop stories…"

"Book starts with a bang where Mim wakes up in her friend's home, only to find him dead. Then she was taken to the police precinct first and then, hospital, where she meets Gus, a former FBI agent who is willing to act as her temporary bodyguard. Then sparks fly and they come quite close but then Mim starts getting suspicious and thinks is Gus with her because he really wants to or is she just there as a mean to some end.
For me, the story was good. I love reading cop stories and this author is really good at writing it. Although I started reading this because of the word nerd, but Gus is nowhere near our typical nerds so got a bit disappointed there. But otherwise everything is good. Great characterization."

“Nerds are Sexy!

"He may be a computer nerd, but he is one hot ex-agent. He has an agenda that he can't let go....trying to find who killed his wife and he thinks he has found the one person who might be able to help solve the case. Gus meets Miriam, who is his complete opposite and the suspense continues from there. They are both very well written and have many layers. I loved how even though they are such opposites they are drawn together. The characters were not the only thing with layers. The story was filled with beautiful locations, steamy scenes, suspense, and murder. I really enjoyed reading this book. Love that nerds are given their day!"

“Lots of mystery!"

"We start the book with Miriam waking up beside her friend, who was murdered in the night. How would you deal with something like that?

This book had action, suspense, thriller, mystery along with romance! It definitely had me hooked and I could not stop reading this book. Loved the big secret that Miriam had and I did not see that at all.

There was times where I was confused. I am not sure how to explain it. Maybe it was too much at one time hitting me, but I don't think that was it. I do know that if I get a free moment so I can re-read this, I will.

I cannot say too much about the surprise or the mystery that happened in this book because it would give away the good stuff.

☆☆☆☆
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
Would I recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes!
Would I read more from this author? Yes!

Happy Reading!

“An intriguing reading adventure you will not want to miss."

Miriam is not having a good day. Waking up next to a dead person who happens to be her friend is just messing with her good mood. Add in to the fact she had a bad experience with the police and the detective who is asking her questions is an idiot. Gus is retired FBI who is hired to protect Miriam by an unknown person. When they meet, sparks are flying and the attraction can't be ignored but the mystery remains, who is after Miriam? This was a great story and the author starts it with a bang. The story is told from several points of view so you get a good idea what is going on inside a lot of the characters heads. The supporting characters are a great addition, giving lots of depth to the fast growing storyline. There are a lot of different things going on in this tale, with more then one storyline crossing the other. Miriam faces things with humor and has quite the sharp wit. I loved to watching her apply it to the unsuspecting, it made me smile and laugh many times. This was well written, well thought out and very easy to get caught up in. Drama, humor, mystery, lies, secrets, deceit and some unexpected twists all make this an excellent choice for an intriguing reading adventure you will not want to miss."

“A fun mystery”

"This is a fun mystery and I absolutely love the characters, Gus and Miriam. The secondary characters are well-written as well, and I would love to see more of them all. It's non-stop action and characters that draw you in until the last riveting word -- romantic suspense in the best sense of the word.

The story is told in multiple points of view-- including the bad guy. Occasionally it got a little confusing, but not enough that it took away from my enjoyment of the book.

I could so see this as a movie (Hollywood, are you listening? Don't forget the name of Chris Redding.) This is the first time I've read this author, even though she's visited here before, but it certainly won't be the last. 4 stars."

“Gifted by author in exchange for an honest review."

"Miriam wakes up to a dead man beside her. Her gay friend was murdered while sleeping right beside her and she didn’t hear a thing. Not only is he an old friend but the mayor’s son. She is questioned but for some unknown reason is being protected by an unknown source. Someone knows that she has information and is trying to dispose of her. Her ex-husband is an ex-cop who is going down for murder. Miriam is surrounded by murder.

Gus is hired to protect her. His wife is killed by a drunk driver. When he was hired to protect her, he wondered why someone would go to such lengths. As he gets to know Miriam, he finds himself attracted to her and they begin to fall into a romance. He has a feeling that she may have more information and tries to get it out of her while they are running for their lives.

A View to a Nerd is a witty mystery. Miriam is type A personality that never stops. She keeps her mind and body always moving. She knows things but at the same time doesn’t feel the need to share. Her character doesn’t give away any information. It has to be pulled out of her. Gus has many challenges ahead of him while protecting Miriam. The story has many twists and turns.

The story is well written and easy to follow. It also takes us into the minds of Miriam, Gus, and many other characters. Sometimes when the POV’s alternate between too many people, it can make the story confusing. This is not the case with this book. It flows beautifully and you find yourself engrossed in the story line. The story brings mystery, action and romance. This is a good read and a great story."

"The title is a bit misleading. It sounds like a humorous comedy, when in fact, the book is an action/suspense/thriller with a fine romance on top. But then this is part of a series: The Nerds Saving the World, which should help focus readers to it’s true intent. Fortunately, the cover suggests thriller vs. humor as well, so readers shouldn’t be confused once they see the cover and read the blurb.

I enjoyed the romantic parts thoroughly. The main couple was most likable…usually. Miriam would sometimes get her hackles up but Gus was rock solid.

The underlying story is that Miriam’s ex-husband, a crooked cop is sentenced to serve time, and has sent her a picture that puts her life in danger because it contains documents between the painting and the backing that could destroy the Capano mafia family. While this is pretty obvious from the early on, her ex doesn’t admit it until mid-book.

Eventually, Miriam and Gus remove the backing and discover dairy pages that could blow the crime families of Philadelphia apart, only to discover a gun aimed at them. Shadowman’s assistant takes the papers and leaves. Only one sheet has fallen to the floor and is not seen by the fellow. Once the thug has gone, Miriam finds the page and whatever is on it is worthy of killing her to get it back.

Thus to keep her safe, the FBI tries to protect her, first at her house, then in a safe house. And what is better than sex to get your mind off troubles?
(Yes, there are fun times here.)

Still Miriam is trying to grow a business and not thrilled to be cloistered indefinitely. And the lady has attitude. So naturally, when she gets word her mom is ill, she sneaks off.

When she reaches Montana, and discovers her mom’s just fine, she never once thinks, “Crap, I’ve been lured out in the open so someone can kill me.”

And thus for me, the story weakened in ‘plausibility’, given her total lack of concern. Had she no knowledge her life might be in danger, perhaps she might pass if off as a weird prank, but when a person is being protected so no one CAN shoot them, concern that they’d just been tricked out of protection should be the first thought they have upon discovering Mom is alive and well.

I’ll leave what happens next a mystery, other than to say the story does not disappoint on the HEA but someone important does get shot.

Overall, I thought this a delightful book. But due to the implausible reaction when she discovers her mother is feeling fine, I have to knock it down to a 4 star. Still, it’s a fun and fabulous read and if you love romance with your suspense, you should thoroughly enjoy it."

Books Laid Bare

"This was a good book to read, it held my attention and completely absorbed me in Mim’s story.

Mim had more than her fair share of problems to deal with at the minute, she is reeling from the fact that after spending the night with friend, she wakes up only to find that he is lying dead beside her – huh! That is just the start to the cacophony of weird shit that begins to surround her making it clear that she is definitely at the top of someone’s shit list and they are not taking any prisoners with the games they are playing to get to her.

The characters were well rounded and had enough intrigue to hold you captivated. There are some events that are uneasy to read and that are edging slightly towards the gory edge of the spectrum but they were completely in context of the book.

There is no secret for us the reader with regards to the reasoning of the attacks Mim is experiencing and I have to say that she does a cracking job of dealing with what is being thrown at her, I know that she has her mystery man, a cop no less who is more than willing to keep her safe from the danger that appears to surround her but I had a feeling that there was more to him and his presence in her life than met the eye. But I suppose only time will tell.

I liked Mim, I like the fact that no matter what was going on around her she never lost sight of what was important. She was sometimes distracted and easily irked but I have to say that she said some of the kookiest things that I have read in a long time when she was narked. Ever so slightly lame but totally in the minute.

But the kicker, is the ending because no matter how clued in you have felt all the way through the book, you will not for one second see the ending coming – it snuck up on me and batted me round the back of the head with the element of surprise well and truly weighted in its favour – it completely nailed me… well played!!!"
